The other day, the song “Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This)” came to mind and made me stop and think.
What is this?
It is a simple lyric, but it has lasted for decades because it captures something deeply true about life. Everybody is looking for something.
After many years in real estate, I have had the opportunity to meet all kinds of people. Over time, patterns begin to emerge.
Some people want to help you.
Some want something from you.
Some give and some take.
Some are looking for guidance and want clarity in a complex process.
Some are looking for opportunity and want to make the most of a moment.
Some are looking for trust and want someone who will genuinely represent their best interests.
And sometimes, people are simply looking for the best deal they can get.
None of these motivations are inherently right or wrong. The wisdom comes from recognizing the difference.
Because in real estate and in life, choosing the right person to represent you matters more than most people realize.
Experience does not just teach you how things work. It teaches you how people work.
