This week’s Sunday Select takes us to the sun-kissed shores of Kata Noi Beach in Phuket, Thailand, where our most unforgettable meal during a three-week adventure through Hong Kong, Vietnam, and Thailand took place. Drum roll, please… Introducing Issara Phuket, a culinary masterpiece helmed by two Croatia-born brothers and former MasterChef winners.
Issara is more than a meal—it’s an experience. Nestled along the serene Kata Noi coastline, the restaurant exudes elegance and creativity, seamlessly blending Thai flavours with global techniques. It’s no surprise that this duo of chefs is carving their path toward Michelin stardom.
Our evening began with the chicken yakitori, perfectly charred skewers bursting with savory depth, and the spicy tuna tartare, a delightful explosion of heat and freshness that set the tone for the meal. The seared tuna steak was impeccably cooked, balancing tenderness with a touch of crispness. The salmon teriyaki, glazed to perfection, was another standout—a harmonious combination of sweet and umami.
What elevated the experience further was a personal moment with one of the chefs, who graciously stopped by our table. Hearing his passion and vision for Issara gave us a deeper appreciation for the artistry behind each dish.
