Always Be Closing. Always Be Learning. Always Be Growing.

Always Be Closing. Always Be Learning. Always Be Growing.

In real estate, we’re taught the phrase ABC – Always Be Closing.

While I understand the sentiment, I believe there are two other principles that have had a far greater impact on my career:

ABL – Always Be Learning.
ABG – Always Be Growing.

No one becomes a trusted Divorce Real Estate Specialist simply by adding the title to a business card.

For me, that knowledge has been built over 31 years in real estate, dozens of successful matrimonial home sales, and the privilege of spending the last decade immersed in my husband Steve’s family law practice. Through that experience, I’ve had the opportunity to learn from exceptional family lawyers, mediators, divorce coaches, financial professionals, and mental health experts who dedicate their careers to helping families through one of life’s most difficult transitions.

I’ve learned that the most valuable skill isn’t always having the answer. It’s listening. Asking thoughtful questions. Understanding that every family, every conflict, and every path forward is different.

I consider myself incredibly fortunate to have built relationships with professionals who trust Cheryl and me with their clients. Whether it’s a phone call, text, email, or meeting in person, I continue to learn from the very people who are shaping best practices in the divorce field. Their confidence in our ability to guide clients through the sale of one of their largest assets is something I never take for granted.

One experience that had a profound impact on me was attending the Harvard Mediation Program alongside Steve. More recently, spending time with some of Canada’s leading professionals at the National Family Law Program in Kelowna reinforced something I’ve always believed: the best professionals never stop learning.

I’m a sponge. I want to understand how we can better support our shared clients, reduce conflict where possible, communicate more effectively, and help people move from what often feels like one of the darkest chapters of their lives toward a brighter future.

Every divorce is different. That’s why our approach is never one-size-fits-all. Cheryl and I continually refine how we work to meet the unique needs of each client, each family, and each professional involved.

If we’ve never had the opportunity to work together, I’d love to connect. Whether you’re a family lawyer, mediator, divorce coach, financial professional, therapist, or someone facing this journey personally, I’m always happy to share how Cheryl and I approach matrimonial home sales with compassion, neutrality, experience, and strategy.

Because while Always Be Closing may be good advice in sales…

I believe the professionals who make the greatest difference are the ones who choose to Always Be Learning and Always Be Growing.
