You don’t get to pick your mom. But you do get to pick your business partner. And after all these years, I would still pick my mom.
This fall, Cheryl Graff will celebrate 45 years in real estate. Forty five years of showing up for clients, negotiating deals, calming nerves, building relationships, and becoming one of the most respected women in our industry.
An icon in real estate? Absolutely.
But to so many of us, she is far more than that.
She is a woman of valour to her family, friends, clients, colleagues, and community.
If you know Cheryl, you know she has always brought something special into every room she walks into. Warmth. Energy. Loyalty. Class. Humour. Strength. Wisdom. And somehow, the ability to make everyone feel important.
Over the years, I have watched clients become lifelong friends. I have watched other agents genuinely admire and respect her. I have watched people trust her with some of the biggest and most emotional moments of their lives.
And I have had the privilege of building a business beside her.
People often ask what it is like working with your mother.
The truth is, building a business with family is not always easy for most people. But Cheryl and I seem to dance very well together because we built our foundation on respect, trust, loyalty, and shared values.
What makes Cheryl extraordinary is not just the number of homes sold or awards received. It is the way she makes people feel while doing it.
She taught me that success is not measured only in numbers. It is measured in relationships, reputation, integrity, and how many people are genuinely happy to see you walk into a room after decades in business.
And speaking of rooms… or streets…

I truly think that may be part of her magic.
So as we move toward celebrating her 45th year in the business this fall, I find myself reflecting on how lucky I am.
Not everyone gets to say their business partner is also one of their greatest teachers, biggest blessings, and forever, their mother.
I wonder how we will celebrate this incredible milestone.
Knowing Cheryl, there will definitely be laughter, dancing, good food, and probably a few unforgettable stories.
